The heart of the house lies in its kitchen and dining space, lovely convivial beamed rooms which open out onto the south-west-facing dining terrace. Cooks (and diners!) are very well-served with an fine array of kitchen equipment and superb food shopping nearby. A separate pantry and utility/laundry room help to ensure the kitchen remains a sociable family space. Opening on to the the dining room is a cosy sitting-room with a wood-burning stove in the big stone fireplace, TV with UK channels and DVD player.
Surrounding the house is a large garden with 10m swimming pool, huge trampoline, gas barbecue, and lots of space for playing, as well as a gravelled parking area large enough for several cars and a sheltered parking spot in the barn. Outdoor terraces look out over the rolling countryside and the beautiful sunsets – perfect for evening drinks and dining (and with covered areas for lunchtime shade and afternoon snoozes).
There are five bedrooms, comfortably sleeping ten people. On the ground floor in the main house is the master bedroom, a very large and light room with a king-size sleigh bed and a good-sized en-suite bathroom with bath and a large separate shower. Also on the ground floor is the second bedroom, a pretty and light room with a king-size bed, en-suite shower and WC, and views across the rolling countryside to Monflanquin perched on its hill. On the first floor are one twin and one double room which share a large family bathroom with bath and a large separate shower.
Adjoining the main house is the gite, a lovely suite of rooms with a private entrance. Sleeping up to four, it is made up of a double bedroom, a bathroom with bath and a large separate shower, and a large beamed sitting room with kitchenette area (with fridge, kettle, microwave) and a sofa-bed (please let us know if you’d like this made up as a bed rather than a sofa: it’s a small double). The gite’s sitting room opens out onto the front garden on one side and a second terrace on the other, with views across the garden and pool out onto the countryside.
