The dates for the 2025 residential piano retreat are to be confirmed. Aimed at intermediate players and above the retreat takes place in the relaxed setting of the beautiful restored eighteenth-century farmhouse at La Cornière in the heart of south-west France. The retreats are led by Michael Barker, an experienced teacher, performer and composer based in Leamington Spa in the UK.
The retreat is intended to be an immersive, sociable experience and the house, pool and garden will be exclusively reserved for piano players and their partners during these weeks. We hope that this will lend itself to an atmosphere of camaraderie and support!
Itinerary
Arrive on Saturday afternoon for welcome drinks, introductions and dinner in the evening. Over the next four days there will be individual and group piano tuition sessions, together with some group harmony and theory sessions usually later in the afternoons.
Accommodation in king, double or twin rooms, breakfast and informal lunch every day (unless you would rather go out), dinner at the house on three nights and a group visit to a local restaurant on one night (guests are free to make their own arrangements for the fifth evening, but reservations or group visits to local restaurants can be arranged if guests wish). Partners (and families for guests who take the gite) are welcome at a cost of £500 per person (no charge for infants).
